The Swiss artist Nadja Kirschgarten presents at KUNSThouse Zürich a selection of new works from her current cycle Arches alongside earlier pieces, for which she received the ERNTE Art Prize of Mobiliar in 2024.
In her paintings, watercolour works, and, more recently, sculptures, she explores the form of the arch as a symbol of transition, connection, and protection. The arch stands not only for an architectural structure, but also for an inner movement: a stepping forward, a turning inward. Between watercolor and oil painting, surface and space, stillness and motion, poetic visual worlds unfold – characterized by vibrant color and a delicate sense of balance. Kirschgarten remains in constant search of a new formal language, one that connects the visible with the imaginary.
Her works explore archaic forms and invite us to sense those thresholds where dream and reality intertwine and mysticism, as an ancient human experience, awakens anew.
